Dr. Joanie Peter Joins Franklin Memorial Emergency Department

Franklin Memorial Hospital President Rebecca Arsenault is pleased to announce that Joanie Peter, MD, has joined the medical staff of the emergency department at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Peter received her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in North Brunswick, New Jersey. She then completed a family medicine residency with a selective track in emergency medicine and critical care medicine at Central Maine Medical Center. In 2013 she earned the Family Medicine Residency “Professionalism” Award. Dr. Peter is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Before attending medical school, Dr. Peter was a health and physical education teacher, recreation specialist, coach, and team-building specialist at two alternative schools for at-risk youth in Denver, Colorado.
Dr. Peter resides in Durham. During her free time she enjoys snowboarding, wine collecting, and kayaking. She is a volunteer ski patrol member at Black Mountain of Maine.
